Vitozza is part of the Archaeological Park of the Tuff Cities and is one of the most extensive and important rock settlements in central Italy.
The environments, now abandoned, still retain traces of their use today.
Particularly evocative are the dovecotes, numerous and small niches carved into the walls. They have long been considered funerary monuments from the Roman era but recently, the hypothesis has prevailed that they are environments dug in the medieval period for the breeding of doves and pigeons.
For all those who love the spirit of adventure, it is possible to venture into the forest and reach the sources of the Lente river (the path, quite steep and rugged, is not suitable for families with strollers, small children, and people with disabilities).
It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes.
Duration of the route: about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Admission is free and no ticket is required for the hike.
